Quick Question
I just joined CJ, but I'm a bit confused. What's the difference between a lead and a click and a sale?

Hey Shaun,
A lead is when they pay you for an action (newsletter subscription, sign up for an offer, etc.) Most merchants don't have leads and only pay for sales.
A sale is when someone makes a purchase through your link (most common)
And finally a click is just a visit through your affiliate link.

No problem. The CJ setup is very confusing when you first join. I remember just trying to figure out how to get my links was a task because of the way its setup. It's not very friendly for people who have never joined affiliate networks before.

Exactly! I JUST learned that a SmartZone is a way to create a rotating banner script for all the CJ programs you belong to. Very cool feature but not very easy to find.

I wanted to re-emphasize so you don't make the same mistake I did...
With CJ, you must register every page in which you want to include affiliate links. For example, you must register domain.com, domain.com/page1, domain.com/page2, etc. When creating a link, make sure you indicate which page your link will be in. For instance, when creating an affiliate link for advertiser 1 and if you want it to appear on domain.com/page1, make sure you select domain.com/page1 from the drop down menu in the "create-link-wizard".
When I first started, I thought I would just register "domain.com" and every other page would be under this domain... after sprinkling links in 10 or so pages, I had to go back and regenerate all those links.
I hope this makes sense.
Good luck.
Sherif

are you sure you have to register every page? If i have 200 pages on my site and im displaying the ad on right column of every page i have include all 200 pages? sounds a bit too much.
I only have my domain included. What is the process to add referral url in your page?

Wow that's nice Shaun. How did u earn your first commission?
I have had 143 clicks this month and no commission. I have not earned a single dime ever online so far. with cj i have 256 click and 17000 impressions and i'm still sitting $0.00. What am i doing wrong?
Its nice to hear people having success online but I'm still not having any success.

I've never had to register every page. I just register each domain and when I create a link I apply it to the domain for tracking. I've never had any problems doing it that way.
Webdev, are you earning anything with AdSense? Surely your site should be bringing in something from that. As someone said earlier programming sites are often harder to monetize but I would think you would have SOMEthing by now.

nope nothing yet. i made $3.00 on my adsense to this date where most are my own clicks. in the last month i have 5 clicks. my CTR is .91% with 6,603 impressions to date..really low and i have not made a sale on my hosting ads.
My php site google stats - this is since the first day it went online..starting may 12
2,509 Visits
1.92 Pages/Visit
71.78% Bounce Rate
4,810 Pageviews
00:01:45 Avg. Time on Site
83.18% % New Visits
Search Engines (google) 2,050 (81.71%)
Referring Sites 310 (12.36%)
Direct Traffic 149 (5.94%)
Bounce rate is too high. I don't what the average should be or what the good average is. But 70% is just too high.
I'm not having any luck. Can't figure out if it is just bad luck or im doing something wrong.

i've started to get google traffic to my new ajax email form script page but the bounse is 100%. why?
people are coming to the page using keywords like
ajax email script
ajax email submit form
php send form by ajax
I have exactly what they are looking for but yet they choose to leave the page and click back right away?
Is it my site design. Do people automatically think i have bad/simple/ugly design so i probably don't know what im talking about?

Webdev, what kinds of things are you selling from CJ? I agree that your site would be a challenge to monetize.
