Default Starting up

Hi Lisa,

You come across as a genuine fish in a pool of sharks, which is very refreshing. I'd like to build a money-making website but my head's still spinning from all the terminology - it's like watching a carousel turning, and wondering when's the best moment to jump on.

But if I understand it correctly, the process boils down to this: pick a niche subject on which you can write, set up a website with a fair amount of information, and then tap into the advertising and affiliate potential.

All I have to do, then, is think of a subject.

I've bookmarked your site. It's by far the most useful one I've come across, having quickly discarded all those which promise an income of thousands overnight.

So before I start - thanks.

DK,

You hit it right on the nail. Most people miss the most important element of this equation. Find not only a good niche, but find one that you are passionate about. If you can get there first, and then start following the advice from the information that you find on this website, you will be well on your way to a successful site. The people here are VERY helpful and if you just have a little patience, you'll be just fine.

Don't rush your project. Take your time, but at least commit to putting in 30 to 60 minutes a day for your project.

Good Luck

Welcome DK!

Yup. You got it. And Kevin is right. Take your time choosing your subject and remember this is something you will build and build over time. That's why it's crucial you choose something you love. Don't worry about what topic is making the most money. Don't worry what other people are doing. Focus on something you feel you can grow over time.

Check out potential competitors and see what they have on their sites. Look for ways you can improve upon what they've done or add info they might have missed.

Sounds like you are on the right path!
