Default Question about ads

Ok, I am about 2 weeks away from publishing my first website . I know about google adsense and affiliate programs but I have a questions.

Let us say that a local company wants to advertise on my sight. Is there a way for me to create an ad and place it on my site? Do I need software, if so what would you suggest? Remeber, this is all new to me so I would be looking for something user friendly. I just want to be able to create simple ads for customers who want to promote on my site.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

Flavel,

Very exciting!

If you work a deal directly with the local company that wants to advertise on your site, you have a few options:

1. Charge a flat rate per a period of time
2. Charge a flat rate per impression
3. Charge a rate per click on the company's ad on your website.

Either way, the company would want to see that your website has a decent amount of traffic to pay competitively.

In addition, typically with things like that, the company provides its own banners or ads.

Alternatively, you can do it through a third party, for example, there is a service that would rent out a space on a page of your site to advertisers and would pay you for it. Check out: http://textlinksads.com/

Thanks SSMorgan for the reply.

I am excited that some of the casinos are interested in advertising on my site before I have even published it lol. Also, I am thinking about approaching local businesses.

Here is a question I have for you. Lets say I want to design an ad for a company to put on my website. Nothing fancy, but I want to be able to use colors to differ the ad from my content and possibly scan their logo if possible. How do I do that? Also, is there software that is user friendly to help me accomplish this?

I am using Godaddy's website tonight to build my first informational site. It will not be a large site, probably only 30 pages or so, but I want to be able to use Google As Sense, Affiliate Programs and I want to be able to create ads for local businesses for my site. I really appreciate any help anyone can give.

BTW Lisa, I havent forgotten SBI. I will use SBI for my big site called Jollytourist. It will be a monster project but I am looking forward to it.

wow, that's awesome!

Here is the deal about making the ad for them:

I would suggest asking them (their PR or marketing department) for a gif or a jpeg file with their logo.

I usually use GIMP (http://www.gimp.org) which is kind of user-friendly, but you can do a lot of graphics work with it, and it's free!
