Default Just started using twitter

I just started using twitter like a couple of days ago and I was wondering does anybody have any tips that I can use. I have to compete with the all the other tennis websites and blogs out there (there are a lot of them). How do I make my mark in this twitter jungle?

Start following others in your niche and reply to their tweets to engage them. You will find that many of them will decide to follow you. To engage your own followers, post interesting articles about tennis and anything that you feel your audience will be interested in. Just like anything else, Twitter is about adding value to your audience and learning to connect with them.

Thanks lisa! The funniest thing happen I was just messing around with twitter yesterday and i just searched tennis and I found two specific ones I found interesting and I replied to one and said, "I love what your doing". A couple of hours later they followed me. I didn't think they would since they had so many followers and I had none lol.

I am going to try and work twitter to it's fullest. I already had an account and it was for my personal use. So I just decided yesterday to change my twitter name and start using it to promote my website.

Also, a couple of my tweets where on google. I didn't understand why, it was a tweet about this funny tennis ad video that I have on my site. I looked at the video play counter and it went from like 20 to 60 lol. So I must of gotten a trickle of traffic just from that one tweet lol.

Yeah twitter is a really nice form to get traffic to your site but that depends on what you twitted and how many followers you have lol.

You can also try to use different twitter clients for your convenience which is cool.

Nice!

Twitter is so much more powerful than I first believed. Most of my traffic comes from Twitter.

This is what I did.

- First of all I made 20 useful tweets

- Next I followed as many targeted people as I could before I hit the limit (about 1000)

- Then I waited a couple of days. About 600 of those people followed me back.

- Then I found out about this program http://www.tweepular.com/ This tool is free and allows you to un-follow everyone who isn't following you in 2 minutes!

- So after that I was following 600 people and had 600 followers.

If you keep doing this you can easily have 2000+ targeted followers in the next couple of days

I stopped doing this a couple of weeks ago because I was so busy working on my site but I think im going to start again now

Thanks Sequencehosting you have helped me yet again. I followed like 300 people and now instead of the 10 I have 30 something and I just did that this morning or so. But I want to target tennis fans and players but I have only been able to track down people who have tennis sites and blogs. I need to try to target the average Joe who doesn't have a tennis site or blog. Is there something I can use?

Someone with a golfing site tweeted one of my articles yesterday, the pingback made me think it was spam (my breakdown happpened in a different forum ) and I didn't know whether or not to accept the RSS feed or not. Now, I know they were using, yet another WP plugin, that allows you to schedule your tweets on random posts. I was all impressed because I actually believed someone with 2000+ visitors was personally interested in 1 of my 6 posts .

It's a good idea as you never know whom would be interested in what you have to say and it boosts the morale of the newbies. LOL!!
