Need Help -- Customizing

If you had an open source PHP BB (MyBB) software and you wanted to look at how they did what they did, where would you start?

The nice thing about using myBB or similar software is there are plenty of themes out there for you to just drop in and do very little work into customizing.

What do you mean ? If i wanted to find more about the functionality i would look at the appropriate php code. If it was about design i would look at the tpl files or wordpress themes. It really depends on what you want to find out.
