Yes you can add Google Ads to a phpbb forum by editing some of the files.

    Default Just a general question...

Hi, I am new to the forums and have been trying to build my own forum with information on hifi. Is there aryone here that can give me any suggestions on how to do this? Honestly, I am not computer savy and really dont understand the whole process with hosting, web design, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I also wanted to say that I love this forum. It's layout is so nice and functional. I really wish that I could have something this nice for myself.

    Thanks

The answer to that is you can have something like this for yourself but with any forum it will take allot of work. I don't really mean building it but getting visitors to your forum will be the hard part.

If you wish to start your own forum like this you need:

    - A domain name (web address for example www.mydomain.com)
    - Web hosting (this allows your visitors to see your files (pages, images etc)
    - Unless you can code yourself you will need forum software

The good thing is if you wish to start a forum without a website you don't need any programming experience. You can simply buy a domain name and web hosting then install a forum on your hosting account. This will include all of the pages, you will simply need to create the structure of your forum and change aspects of your forum using the admin area.

If your looking for a forum like this you will need to purchase V Bulletin (this forum is v bulletin) im not exactly sure on the prices but it's not cheap.

Or you can use phpBB, which is a free and is quite simply amazing! I have used it before and it's the most popular free forum software.

If your going for the free phpBB forum look for a host with 'Fantastico' this allows you to install phpBB (and many others) on your hosting account with a few simple clicks.

Hope I helped a bit. If you have any more questions just post here and myself or anyone else will be able to help.

I've used both VBulletin and phpBB and much prefer phpBB. They both require effort if you want a nice, clean looking interface, but aside from that they both work pretty much the same for users. I find for me the administrative interface for phpBB a little easier to use.

I made a test with SMF and downloaded a mod of advertisements, it lets you put an ad in many places of the forum.
Pretty easy to use but the best would be you code the ads yourself.

I think it's possible to put ads in any kind of forum, only if you know where to put the code. If this is not correct, please tell me because I am also interested in looking for the best forum software where I can also add Google AdSense.

Rumor has it vbulletin 4.0 is going to make it a lot easier to incorporate ads. You can do it now with certain mods, but it's not straightforward for the average user.

I would suggest that you post in the Adwords Help Forum to find others more capable of giving you the type of assistance you are looking for.

With either Vbulletin 3.6 or 3.7, ad location templates are integrated into the software.

You just enter your adsense codes into the ad location templates, and the ads will appear in certain locations in the forum. I think there are 12 built in ad locations.
