Interactive Social network

I have my social network done but I want to make it more interactive for my members. I want them to be able to add a friend like myspace,and facebook have. I also want there to be chat so everyone even visitors can chat and meet one another on the site.

Is there anyway I could make my social network community more interactive for my members?

Forums are always the way to go but that is if you have a large community.

Maybe start by embedding some chat software within your site? As to where they can join a big chat room (Within your website) and start chatting?

That is a good idea. What if you set a topic per niche. I am sure that will be fun. I suggest that start asking the members what topic they want. And from that you can be able to create a new social site community. I am not sure if this is possible but sure thing this will benefit the site and the members.
