My real name is used on my personal twitter account, same for facebook. Those accounts are for networking with friends not business
I think it's important to keep our business seperate from our personal lives
I see tweets about the holiday in chicago and the kids christmas presents in peoples business twitter account and it's a real turn off.
If you are a lawyer you don't tell you clients about where your wife goes shopping so why should internet business be any different

Interesting that you mention you have a separate account for your business. I never understood why people do that.
When adding websites to social networks I like knowing that the person behind the website is just a regular person. When people update with only content related to their product, such as lots of celebrities do on Twitter & Facebook, it makes me feel uncomfortable. Isn't social networking intended so you can get to know more people and communicate instead of signing up to news related to their business? I find it a turn-off when people don't tweet about their personal lives. It makes me feel like I'm only part of their squeeze-money-out-of-these-people group.
I also don't think you can compare it to regular jobs because I'd have no reason to follow my lawyer or doctor on social networks to begin with. Websites worth adding to social networks aren't just about the content of those sites, the team behind it and how entertaining they are is equally important.
