My main domain of my web hosting package is a wordpress site. I moved the installation files to another directory because the files were cluttering my website root. However, there are index.php and .htaccess files in the root as those are required. I was just wondering whether this is a good idea or I should go for sub-directory option(for eg, sitename.com/blog or similar).
The site is new with a few number of articles, so now is the high time to decide. I am looking for some suggestions.
What are the pros and cons of installing wordpress in a sub-directory?

I'm looking at the Genesis framework and I'm a tad confused (already haha). I can buy the theme for $59.95 but then they have other prices for different themes. So, would I buy the Genesis framework as like the skeleton of my website but then Id have to buy a theme on top of that? Or can I build my website with just the Genesis framework? I also see that they have new themes coming out all the time, so wouldn't I have to buy the newer ones as I progress to keep up to date? Is a theme like a kind of sitebuilder?

Thanks.

Does anyone know of any good (free) themes we could use? I'm not looking for something with a bunch of footballs on it, just something bold, clean, and professional that would make sense with the topic. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi to all
I frequent this form from time to time, but have not been a contributor.
I have a problem that may be someone could advise me on.
I want to start a new project, which will focus on the tourist industry.
With the focus on booking tours in a very popular destination.
This could be a very large website with all the different tours, times, and schedules.
I have spent many hours converting a html template to what I need, but already just in the development stages has proven to be a monster.
Am I looking in the wrong place. Should I be looking at a word press theme, something that is totally mobile, and responsive to different devices.
So my question is...
Is there a theme that includes a booking or shopping cart system?
How about social networking can that be incorporated?
How about a sliding photo navigation that could feature the tours is this possible?
I have very little knowledge of Word press, but would love to learn.
I just upgraded to Dreamweaver CS six and Dragon NaturallySpeaking which makes typing much easier.
So maybe I should be learning word press also.

Hi,
I have a responsive wordpress theme that responses perfectly in the google chrome and firefox browser. The three column layout breaks into one column perfectly as I reduce the browser window size. But in case of IE, it doesn't show any response at all.
So you might wanna check in other browsers to ensure whether your theme is responsive or not!

Hi,
I have replaced default wordpress commenting with "facebook comments by Fat Panda" plug in. The plug in works just fine, but the problem is, the comments get deleted after 1 to two weeks. They just go to trash automatically. I don't know what's causing this problem.
The plug ins that could interfere with this, I think, are Akismet (most possibly) and Stop Spammer's Registration(less likely).
Any suggestion? Has anyone encountered same problem?

Thanks.

Annoying cursor problem in wordpress!

Hi,
I usually use the visual editor of wordpress to publish my posts. So I created an unordered list by clicking the button and created my list. Now I want to write a para below the list, but I can't get my cursor left-aligned so that I can start a para. If I press "Enter" then it creates a gap within the same list item. If I click the "unordered list" button again, it breaks the list item where my cursor was before. Now I have to make a silly list item just for the purpose of breaking the list item so that I can start a para. It looks so unprofessional. Other option is to use the HTML editor, which I can use, but don't prefer. I have tried "backspace" and "Tab" keys to align my cursor properly but failed.
May be this is a simple task, but I just can't get it done in a proper way.
Any help?
