Ok, I'm a rank newbie, so I'm not totally confident that I'm not reposting a question or that I'm not in the wrong forum, but...

Is there any harm, and is there a potential benefit, for having multiple websites for the same local business? I'm a carpet cleaner, and I own 4 domains with local city names + keywords in them, and I'd like to try different marketing/website formats and see what works best.

Obviously, there's no harm for me if one site knocks someone else's off, or even mine. I guess the drawback would be if search engines punish me for my redundancy.

I was wondering, is it best when using say three words, to use a domain name in which each word has the largest number of searches compared to synonyms for that word.

Such as the words "Tips" and "Advice" if Tips gets more searches then I would want to use that in the domain name instead of advice right? Or does it not matter since most people probably don't just singly search the word tips, but usually another word attached to it?

Hi All, I am new to this group, and am happy to be here.

Where do the large companies go to create the domains they sell to us? I would like to be able to go to ICANN (or whereever) to be able to create my own domain(s) instead of paying others.
Does anyone know where the larger companies go to create the domans we get from them??

Thanks very much,
Don, in Vegas
