Could someone help me to know how to play my video clips on my WordPress website? I don't want the video clip to take me to YouTube or whatever site the clip comes from. I is important that people only look at the clip on my page only. And do you know of a player that does not show other clips after I finish watch a clip on my page like YouTube does. You know what I mean, when you finish watch a YouTube clip, it shows you a bunch of other stuff right there on the screen you can choose from to continue to watch. I don't want to sort of setup, it is very big distraction from what people will go to my site to read. Thanks so much for your help!

So when editing those php files in a child theme folder, you add a php file (functions.php for example) and after the opening php tag, you declare a function. This loads before the file of the same name in the parent theme folder and executes whatever functionality you need in the blog.

How does it work with the content.php file? There are some lines of code I want to strip out from that file.

Do I copy the entire code from the content.php from the parent folder and paste that into an identical file of the same name in my child theme folder, taking out the part of the code I do not need?

In the past I have directly edited the parent theme files and got the results I need. This is not good practice however and I will not be doing it again.
