Hi Babble family,

It will be one year in a few days and it has been quite a journey. :smug: I had some expectations that didn't come into fruition but that was from my unrealistic expectations from blogging. Here are some of my findings:

1. My pages views have grown from 80 pageviews a day to 200 to 325 a day. I wanted 500 pageviews a day by my anniversary but now I see, it takes time.

2. My bounce rate last year was about 68% and now it averages about 55% and it was 49% last month. I'm very happy with these stats.

3. I started with Adsense in July of last year and I make between $25-$35 a month. I thought my Adsense earnings would be about $80-$100 a month but I see now that was unrealistic. I would need more traffic for that.

4. I just started with affiliate marketing so I have to wait to next year to access it but I do need to work harder on it. I've been a little lazy.

What I have been doing to build traffic? I take part in link up parties, I use google adsense advertising, I email 400 people who have taken my classes over the years. I post my articles on FaceBook, Pinterest and Twitter.
I also have a monthly contest for my blog. Sometimes I get sponsors and sometimes, I don't. Most of the sponsors told me to reapply later, which means, "Your blog doesn't have enough GFC, Pinterest and Twitter followers". With only 69 Twitter, 68 Pinterest. 329 Facebook and 210 GFC followers, this isn't nearly enough for large companies to take me seriously. I would need my Twitter and Pinterest followers to be in the hundreds to be able to snag bigger sponsors.

The Future
I am going to start working on my YouTube channel again because I stopped making videos. I have a running app being built and will hope to market it by the fall of this year. I'm going to have an infographic made and a member here will be doing the project. Lastly, I have to get serious with affiliate marketing, I'm kind of so so with it.

So this has been a year, I've made a few new blogging friends, we support each other and I learned nothing comes easy in the world of cyberspace and if someone tells you it's easy, run!:)

I just thought i'd post an update on my website ventures. In September 2011 I started my first site which I launched, put many hours into but subsequently closed as I realised I had made a mistake with my niche. Next I launched a SEO based website specialising in helping people with their websites. That site has gone from strength to strength and despite little to no work on the site the traffic has steadily increased and I get a lot of enquiries through the site. It's due a massive overhall which I will be doing shortly.

Finally I launched another leisure based site which is also doing well now and has had very quick sucess based on the lessons I have learnt from my other sites.

So why am I saying all this? Well in September 2011 I made money very quickly from Adsense, but it was short lived. Nearly 2 years later I realised the other day that I have helped over 200 people with their website problems and in doing so built a sustainable online business. But it didn't happen overnight.

We all hope that we will make money quickly online, but nearly 2 years later, I'm starting to see the real fruits of my labour. So to every new webmaster out there, the best of luck - and remember - keep with it!! :smug:
