Work around for short URL services?

Hey all!

As I mentioned in another post, there is an issue with scams on Twitter using URL shortening services.

To make the URL fit, posters use this for convenience which makes sense.

The problem is, you just can't be sure where they are sending you to so they send you to a page infected with Malware and such.

Has anyone thought of how to use a shortened URL but make the destination visible to the viewer?

Just a thought.

I have heard Leo Laporte mention several times now that he is getting Direct Messages on Twitter that say: "I saw you in this video" and then have a shortened url to click on.
Well, he knows better so never clicks on them because they are coming from someone he doesn't know.
The link is MALWARE! This is a new scam/trick that the hackers are using so beware!

Hello..

My name is Rani (Ronnie) and I reside in San Diego, CA. I'm purchasing a car club forum that i've been a moderator of for over a year. Since I've never done this kind of purchase before, I'm not sure what steps I should take. The owner and I came to an agreement on a price, and he requested that I draft the purchase agreement... These are the Q that are going through my head:

1) Where would I find someone to help me with drafting a contract?

2) What do I need to include in the contract for him to release liability to me? Meaning what's involved in running/owning a forum?

3) What should I expect when I buy the forum?

4) What "estimated" fees should I expect as expenses?

5) anything else I need to know which I forgot to mention?

I know I have a lot of questions, and I sincerely apologize for that, however, I dont have a lot of time to waste, so I need to get my facts straight so I don't get cheated.

I ppreciate all your help and support.

Hi Babblers,

If you use Twitter, you might not know that Twitter lists are available to everyone now. So if you normally use HootSuite, TweetDeck, Brizzly or any of the other 3rd party apps. you need to go to twitter.com and login to start creating lists.

I was surprised to see that I was already on 11 lists yesterday. It is fun to see the names of the groups people add you to, for example someone added me to their "seo experts" group. I got a laugh out of that one.

Well let me know what you think when you get a chance.
