Hi! I wonder if any of you lovely people can help me.

I've had (what I believe) a really fantastic idea that nobody has ever done to the extent I wish to take it and I'm a little stuck as to where to start.

First off, I am relatively computer competent and I'm very good at teaching myself new skills but I know I can't do everything.

The platform I need is one not too dissimilar to that of Tripadvisor, basically a website that is going to allow users to submit their own reviews and images in a variety of different categories. I also need the website to have the facility to support articles, of which I will write and submit myself via the back end of the system.

I'd really like to keep costs down as much as possible and will pay out when it's something that I just simply can't teach myself to do, but I've got a massive belief in this idea and think it has the potential to do really well.

Any advice that any of you can give will be greatly appreciated, I've been struggling to get some actual, honest advice from people without them throwing a quote in my face.

Thanks very much in advance,

Amy

Hi everyone :)

I'm trying to increase the traffic of my gymnastics website and i have an idea, thought i'd share it here. Here's some background:

My website's niche is very small, and the fact that it's in Hebrew makes it even smaller. It's an Israeli gymnastics magazine. Because of it's uniqueness and because it's pretty much the only website of its kind in my country, i have pretty good traffic when there are big gymnastics competitions and people are looking for info about them (at the olympics, i got over 2500 visits a day during the gymnastics competitions).

Now i thought about this idea. I started playing around with Wordpress Multisite lately (my website is built with self hosted WP platform), and i want to give gymnastics clubs in Israel an option to build a sub-website for their club/team under my website. I want to give this option for free.

Every club manager will have the opportunity to build a (simple) website with some information about their club like opening hours, info, some photos, events, news etc. This is all possible with the WP Multisite platform.

So the question to you is - what do you think, can this kind of thing increase my traffic, and should i offer this for free? The thing is - since i know the field, i'm really skeptic that someone will pay for it (they'd prefer to pay for their own website although there arn't too many Israeli gymnastics clubs websites).

The third question is for the Wordpress savvy ppl here - do you know a simple to use, plain wordpress theme that would be easy for those sub-website managers to understand and work with?

Thank you for your time and answers :)

I'm really torn how to go about my blog. I have an Environmental Science degree and want to start a green blog. I want to talk about sustainable food, to eco-fashion, and technology. Will this be nichey enough? I read the Affiliates Master's Course. Should I build 3 separate websites and down the line connect them to the tier zero "super home page"?
But I see the most popular blogs like this rely heavily on social media for traffic. It seems confusing to have social media for 3 different websites if I will eventually combine them. Any suggestions?

Hi there,
I recently got clicked by an idea to created a website specific for my country, where the customers could like or dislike a product (such as a Mc Donalds new burger). Similarly i would also create an app for this purpose. So that people prior to purchasing any product check its reviews or opinion through either the website or the app. This is somewhat similar to the "thumb" app.

So my question is
1) Has this idea been implemented before? anywhere in the world?
2) Is there any such website?
3) What would be the cost of running such website other than the domain, hosting and developing cost?
4) How can i add different products to my website? Like if i want to add all the burgers of Mc Donalds in my country Do i need to ask the mc donalds? Or i just add it my self? with the pics from their website?

Thanks

Hi all,

I've recently done a website job for a business and earned $1000 from doing so. I don't have anything to spend it on, so I'd like to invest in my website, but I don't really know what to buy.

Right now these are on my list of ideas - what more can you add?

Upgrading from SMF to vBulletin - I figured it's best to do this before I really start advertising the forum section of my website

Buying a premium Wordpress Theme - I was thinking Genesis, Thesis, or Oracle. I am open to suggestions on this as well - my requirements are that the theme is SEO friendly, loads fast, and looks professional. It'd also be kinda nice if it was easily customizable as well as having good options for including social media (my current theme has not been successful social media wise).

Buying a premium vBulletin theme - my niche is semi competitive so I think a nice theme would be a good investment to separate myself from other forums until I have more content

Buying a camera - I think I heard Lisa say something about this a while ago, about getting on YouTube being important. I'm 16, so I'm a bit reluctant to show my face as I feel as people will think I'm less credible or knowledgeable about my subject simply because of my age.

Advertising? I don't know, but I've considered it.

Paid vBulletin mods - there's such a large selection, I'd have to see what would work for me. I'm not quite sure yet.

Paying for forum posts at the beginning - I've heard this is a bad idea as it looks illegitimate. Maybe some people think otherwise.

Anyway, what would you recommend?

Thanks all for helping me out!
