It's taken me quite a long time to finish converting my gardening website to a self-hosted version using the Genesis theme "Going Green". I'm dealing with some major disabilities, so it's been a struggle to learn what I need to know and sometimes I'm too sick to work on my site. BUT I've finally made a commitment (which I really pray I can keep!) to write one blog post each week, and send out a short weekly newsletter, too. I plan to prepare some non-seasonal articles/newsletters to keep on hand that I can use when I'm too sick to write new material.

Finally added my Aweber sign-up forms this week. I plan to create a series of short videos from a PowerPoint presentation that I gave locally this spring (VERY popular, to standing room only audiences). I'll put the first of the series on my website sidebar, and offer the rest by links in follow-up emails to new subscribers.

I'm also working on my e-book, which I plan to offer on my site. Looks like it will be a minimum of 100 pages. One of my main problems in designing it is how to differentiate it from information on my site. I tend to write LONG articles (1,000 - 1,700 words) on my site, so much of my material is gradually ending up there.

I also have audio recordings of a 16-hour gardening course I provided, covering the same material that will be in the ebook. I'd like to make use of that somehow, too.

My minimum goal is to earn an average of a few hundred dollars per month. Despite about 5,000 visitors last month, I only sold 5 books through links to Amazon. Ouch! $2.58 commission doesn't go very far! I guess I figure if I can sell 4-5 copies of my own ebook instead, that could be another $100 or more each month. Increase traffic 5 times over the next 1-2 years (my best estimate so far), and maybe I can reach my goal.

Shame my topic is so seasonal, though. But it's what I'm passionate and knowledgeable about, so I just have to work with its limitations.

Anyway, if you have a few moments to look the site over, I'd really appreciate it!

My website is going on 4 years old, and my traffic just sucks. I won't even tell you the numbers, but they aren't good.

I was hit by Penguin, and I've been bumped by Panda, and then de-bumped, lol.

I originally started with SBI!. I had a 2-column site, then upgraded it to a 3-column. Then I discovered the UMT, which is AJ's template. He's a web design guru who is a genius at everything he does, so I thought I'd dive right in and make myself a mobile-friendly site.

If you go to my website on mobile, I personally think it's pretty fantastic for what it is. Very clean, the screen doesn't shift left to right, links are clear, videos are accessible, etc. I think I've done a great job.

I just recently got rid of my drop-down navigation menu, as I've just found out that it's frowned upon on the search engines. Before, I had every page clickable from the homepage, which I thought was pretty user-friendly, but upon research, it's a bad idea, so I changed it to a 3-tier structure.

I am heavily involved in social media. My Facebook Fan Page has over 600 likes, which is nothing compared to some of you, but I think it's pretty great. I do advertising from time to time.

I have a Youtube channel. I have a couple videos that are PR4's, a couple that are PR3's, some PR2's, etc.

I have Google+, Twitter, just started LinkedIn, but don't see why that one is so important.

I dunno, I am at a roadblock. I do all I can in social media, am really active in other Facebook niches relating to mine. Likes and members always go up. Yet my traffic continues to suck.

Have considered switching to Wordpress, though I'm skeptical of all the hard work with little or no return.

The yearly fee is not the issue. I make ok money so far, but for a site that is 4 years old almost, I should be seeing better, I think.

I dunno, what is your first impression?

My end goal is to have as many youtube videos as possible, on every related page. I want to have a video on every Tier 2 page (and some Tier 3) as much as possible. As I said before, some of my videos are PR4, so I know there is interest. Perhaps I should focus all my energy on Youtube, as that gets a lot of comments.

I know it seems blockbuilt, but it's 100% responsive, and it looks great on mobile....and quite speedy, so i'm not really wanting to rush out of it.

I've used BrainstormIt the best I've can. Perhaps the wrong way? I don't think so.

I just think a site with videos (and PR4 videos) is better than a site with no videos, so i'm not sure what is causing the lack of visitors. I update pages, I unstuff pages for keywords which I was guilty of beforehand, I've gotten rid of any black SEO which I was unknowingly guilty of pre-Penguin. I'm active on social media. I don't tweet a lot, I don't use some others methods, but still.

Do I have too many ads?

I have Google authorship, my name at the bottom, all the social media buttons in place.

I post on other quit smoking forums, with my link in my signature. I've never tried guest posting, but I haven't found an outlet for that, either.

I don't think this is a small niche. Is my site concept too broad? How could I change that?
