This new post on the AdSense blog arrived in my inbox today:

http://adsense.blogspot.com.au/2013/...de-policy.html

I took the time to go over the updated placement rules. Turns out that "responsive design" is allowed, but hiding ads with CSS display: none is disallowed.

This doesn't make sense. I have a responsive site and I have to use this supposedly disallowed CSS declaration to hide ad units when they are too wide to fit on a screen. For example, a 728 x 90 ad unit is simply not going to fit on a smartphone screen, end of story.

Hiding the ad units seems to be the only option. So how can it be disallowed? Is there another way around it?

Hey all,

I don't know if my CPC through Google Adsense is unusual or not, by my older website was making more than a dollar per click so this is definitely a shocker. Recently, I've been getting less than 10 cents per click, most days getting between 2 and 7 cents a click. Is this normal? Or is something wrong?

My articles usually have between 400 and 1000 words, which I believe is a decent amount to attract a good amount of advertisers.

What techniques are there to increasing the CPC amount? Or is this normal? Thanks all.

I guess I'm still a little confused with these changes in YouTube earnings and AdSense that started April 1st.
My question is... When & How do you get paid for your YouTube earnings? I thought at the end of the month, the YouTube earnings would appear in Adsense and be included in your final earnings with your content earnings. However, my Payment history on AdSense still doesn't show any YouTube earnings for April. So do you get paid for YouTube separately? or does it eventually show up in AdSense? I don't earn a whole lot with YouTube ($10-$20 a month) but it all adds up, especially since I'm usually on the edge of reaching the $100 threshold per month with AdSense.

I am happy with Adsense, but I don't want to rely solely on them, so I do have a Lijit ad on my single post page.
I have only been using them a short time, so I can't really comment on performance yet.
Anyone here been using them for a longer period of time, say > 6 months?

I keep getting this question soooooooo much. In fact, a friend just called me to ask about this.

It's very normal to see clicks with no earnings. AdSense verifies the clicks first and then once they confirm they are "valid" they will add the money into your account later.

Just wanted to drop that tip because I get this question a lot.

It’s been just a few months since we launched a new, larger 300x600 ad size, giving you the opportunity to attract brand advertisers looking for large spaces to engage with users. We’ve received a lot of positive feedback and are happy to let you know that we’ll be expanding our range of available ad sizes to include the brand-friendly 970x90 ad unit.

970x90 ad units are a newly adopted IAB standard and are also known as ‘super leaderboards’. This larger ad size is another visually impactful placement for advertisers to promote their products

Please note that since the 970x90 unit is new to our network, you’ll currently see mainly text ads appearing in this format. The new super leaderboard ad unit can show up to four text ads organized in a column layout but, as with other ad sizes, the number of text ads per unit may vary per impression. When enabling image and rich media ads for this unit, display ads in the size of a 728x90 unit will be displayed initially. Over time, we expect that the inventory of image and rich media ads for the 970x90 will grow and you’ll see more full-size display ads being served.
