Manipulating Alexa Ranking, possible?

There is a new website who is in the same niche as one of my websites. In just three months of its appearance, the website's Alexa ranking is closing in on mine (which has been around for five years).

That website has hardly any content that would justify the traffic. Yet its Alexa ranking seems to be out of sync with eyeball observation. The site is moreover putting up a page claiming that it has so-and-so number of pageviews (which is three times my monthly pageviews), and that people should advertise on it.

It's not jealousy or envy ( ... okay, perhaps a bit!) that drove me to write this thread, but great curiosity. How can a site with hardly any content claim such a high number of pageviews, I wonder. I know who are the main players in this particular niche, and this PR 0 website isn't one of them. So I'm asking, could this website possibly manipulate its Alexa ranking to show a higher traffic than what it actually receives? Could it have installed a software that autoclicks all its links to drive up the traffic?

I never gave much weight to Alexa ranking, but if someone can come along, manipulate it, and then use the numbers to attract advertisers, then it's something to be concerned about.

I am looking for a software that finds your backlinks, and categorizes them by pagerank of domain, and pagerank of backlink. Also checks OBL's and all that good stuff. So far, I find ones that find your links, but don't categorize them, or ones that categorize them, but you need to import the list. I have checked out AHREFS but I don't want to purchase it, on a budget here. Anyone know any good software for this? Looking to see what my best backlinks are and how to make more of them and focus on those websites.

Hey everyone I have decided to start this discussion because it is an issue that I see quite a lot. Whenever someone would like to build links they are quite often referred to the two methods above. In relation to my views on the people that sell back links and run directories I wouldn't trust them as far as I could kick them. So what are the benefits if any of utilizing the link building techniques. PS I use only organic links so I am a little biased in the opinion
