Do you approve all comments left on your blog? I know that Akismet plugin normally does a good job of blocking spam comments to your blog, but what if it lets something through that appears to be legitimate, but not related?

The person making the comments does not have a related site but the comment is good, but general?

Eg Comment from my tech blog: Good but not related.

So I should have seen some growth by now, but all the traffic is from direct links, usually from facebook.

How should I start to try and fix this problem. Considering an adwords campaign but that wont affect seo i don't think. Should I use a SEO Marketer. My question is not should I have more than one blog. I have already looked into that aspect a whole lot and am ready to go for it. I have one blog right now that has become successful for me. It is not making a boat load of money, but it is doing well for what I expected in the first year, and I know there is so much room for improvement that it is just going to get better.

My real question is this...I think I know the answer as I looked into what some other successful people have done and it doesn't seem to be a problem. The one blog I have not is in a health niche and I have been very open about who I am and have my picture on it and everything. I have found this to be very rewarding and am glad I took this route. I also among other things do social networking etc and so I come into contact with the people whom I help in this niche.

I have been very excited for some time and have been wanting to start a blog up all about blogging and everything that goes along with it. I know this is a big field and there is a lot of competition out there, but I am not worried about that. I feel like I have a genuine desire to help people and I have learned a whole lot in the last year while building my successful site.

What I am curious about is would this hurt my credibility with my other health niche at all if I also come out with a blog all about blogging and included in it is obviously how to be successful and make money doing this as well. Is there a way to go about this? Or should I not worry about it at all and just be myself? I have extensive knowledge in the niche I have the established blog in and am very into it.

I just know and feel that I also can do well in the blogging area and within the last few months have really found out that I have a passion for it. Plus being able to study more and more about blogging and everything related will help me with other blog or blogs in the future and right now....

Anyhow I would love to hear thoughts and especially people's experience with this! Trust everyone is doing great here. I have a Genesis Lifestyle Theme which I purchased a months ago for my blog. Now I want to launch an E-commerce website and was wondering if there's a way to transform it :concern:, like a plugin or something. Or do I just have to forget about that option and purchase a different theme? If so which themes would you suggest? my store will be selling stuff like jeweleries, shoes, handbags, etc.

I have seen some nice templates with StudioPress, Woo and Elegant themes but don't really wanna buy another one if i can somehow use the one i already have. Any advise will be welcomed.

I have had a blog for a year which is doing great, and something I am finally getting into now after all of this time is RSS Feeds. I know, funny I waited a whole year to really focus on the RSS feed aspect of my website/blog hybrid, but it is just the way it went and I had ,my hands full with writing content and doing all kinds of other aspects of the site.

Funny I am getting into it at this time, because apparently there is change going on with these. As well as Google Reader being gone apparently Feedburner might be going at some point soon? This seems to be speculation more so than absolute fact though or am I wrong?

So I was thinking about starting with Feedblitz and since I have never started any RSS at all, I will not need to migrate from anywhere. Is this what a lot of people here are doing? Can anyone who knows about all of this stuff weigh in on this?

I cannot wait to finally get an RSS Feed going! I also will need to learn how to monetize the feeds. Is Feedblitz good for monetizing also? I've only had my new self-hosted site live for 5 weeks now. Everything was fine until yesterday.

Now, the post/page spell check won't work, and I keep getting error messages when I try to upload photos - but the photos do upload anyway. I just have to go back into my media library to find them and add the additional information that each photo needs.

I deactivated a couple of plug-ins that were updated recently to see if that made a difference, but it didn't. Do I need to uninstall and reinstall them instead? But I haven't touched my Better WP Security plug-in, as it has been successfully blocking hacking attempts.

How to I go about trying to fix these issues? I'm really, really new to this website development, and it's a struggle to figure out every little thing I need to learn. It's been a frustrating week...

Because of all the chatter about the amount of wordpress sites that have been hacked recently, I decided to harden the security on mine at the end of last week, and on good advice, installed the 'Better WP security' plugin to take care of it.

That was last Friday, and after installation and a little config updates, I was happy that a number of sites were now protected.

i was then away for the holiday weekend, to come back to my site being down all weekend. It wasn't visible on the web, I couldn't log into it, trying to log in to subdomains failed - basically my site was trashed.

I had, however, taken a full backup ( cloned it with WP clone) before installing the security plugin, so started from scratch and reinstalled the site which eventually only took about 15 mins in total - cool.

I then tried reinstalling 'better wp security' which was fine for a few minutes and then - boom - down again. Locked. Start again.

after deactivating all other plugins and only activating 'wp better security' the same thing happened again - so it had to be the culprit....

I'm trying to get to the bottom of the problem, but for the time being I'm looking elsewhere for security until I find out why it keeps crashing my site.
