Hey Farmkid. Just do a Google search and compare the various prices of domain companies. Then do another Google search to see what people are saying about those companies. Once this is done, you can make an informed decision. Tale care and all the best.

When your buying domains it sometimes depends on your host as-well, because some hosting companies charge for you to transfer domains to your existing hosting account if you did not buy the domain from them.

Usually I've seen domains range from $7-20 at most usually the average price is $10-15 (For the basic .com, .net ) domains

You should search different domain companies and see the prices for different domain TLDS .some domain companies have .com or .info domains on sale but have higher prices for other TLDS.
I get very good prices on .com's from myzoz.

Default Or...

If you want to use it right away you may want to purchase your hosting with one of the hosts like mine, Dreamhost, that provides one domain free with hosting. ($9.95 for additional domains)

This is to "register" your domain. You spoke of "buying" a domain. While there are many domain names available at a premium it is very unlikely that you would gain any real advantage over a name you could come up with that is unused. Companies that provide registration and hosting have search programs to help you check out names to see if they are still unused and are free to use.

Hi everyone, just looking for some advice. I have already registered a domain name with SBI, now I have just had an email from a domain provider called Intrust domains offering me a similar domain name for an extortionate amount of money, I have copied the email below. Will this domain come up for sale after a few days, I have been watching my usual domain provider for this to become available, where I can get a .com from for around £20 UK.

Thank you for your inquiry. We are accepting offers for this domain beginning at $97. In most cases $97 is enough to win the domain. It will be released for sale by our affiliate in the next few days. If you are interested in this domain, kindly click through here and fill out the form.
But if you would prefer the domain to be removed from the auction please submit $397. Our sales department will contact you as soon as the domain has been released for sale.

.info and .org are the cheapest domain names. Just a suggestion though.
