Why not buy it ? Domains have come down in price. You can get .com for as low as $10 / year. It is every cent worth the investment. You can make much more than the domain cost if you create a good website or blog on it.

Some registrars will sell for even less. Search in Google and you will see many results.

atspace.com will host your site for free with no ads and even supply you with a free dns server, but you'd still have to purchase the name. And, naturally, atspace.com is great and all but... Well, you get what you pay for xD
