Question How much are you willing to pay for domain name?

How much are people willing to pay for domain name? What do you think?

What is most important thing that makes you go with a certain registrar?

Is it the price?
Is it the trust in the registrar?
Or is it something else?

Good question. I think most people go for the cheapest these days because most domain registrars are the same in terms of service. But I also look for features like domain forwarding. Some domain registrars still charge for that and since it's a feature I use a lot I'll pay a little more for a domain if I can get free forwarding.

id prefer to pay between $5-$10

however if a good domain name was available for more, and i thought it truely fit my website and would help it grow, then id be willing to pay the extra.

I agree 100%. I mean, if yahoo.com was available right now for $1000, I'd snatch it up. I'd put my own Google search bar, some news widgets, and sell lots of ad space and watch the money roll in. Then I would get a loan, hire a development team and try to give Google a run for their money.

Of course I would post the first applications on Website Babble first.

I chose $10 or less because that's the usual standard going rate that I've found for a quality domain registrar that fits my needs. Usually with this amount you can get free forwarding and masking as well as a host of other features!

I think most people would go for the cheapest possible.

But there a lot of other criteria that has to be considered.

Anyway I am paying $10/month plus I am making money out of it as an affiliate.

I'm new to all this but I feel paying btw $5-$10's a good bargain........but what criteria do you have in mind for consideration?

I think one of the most important criteria is quality, and what it has to offer... to be reliable for example.

i would recommend staying away from go daddy for domain registration. I had a client lose their domain (they were a small non profit organization so had help getting the domain registered) because it was more than 15 days past due when they noticed. Go daddy auctioned it off at day 16! Every other registrar i know if gives you the full 30 day grace period then it goes into the 40 day redemption period, then gets released.
