What I do is I take domains and hosting in the same company, dreamhost.
But what I've read many times is to use hostgator for hosting and godaddy for domain names so you don't have everything at the same place in case there is a BIG problem with your hosting company.

I always take .com easier for me to remember, I think I bought only one time a .net because I had no choice as to the domain name, it had to be that word and the .com was taken, I never bought a domain name which was already taken, only bought available domain names.

I'm very thankful to you for your valuable response.
I'll go for the same but after inquire about these things.
because i don't wanted to suffer with the problems as many of my friends told me.

    James Colin says,

Obviously a very wise member with good advice! In spite of others warning of the danger of having registration and hosting at the same place, I do the same, and do it at Dreamhost. If you ever want to move you do not have to contact them to change the DNS, you can just do it yourself online, so I see no danger and you get one free domain when you have them as your host. They have over a million sites hosted and a great reputation.

I also agree, as anyone with experience will tell you, go for the .com. Most webmasters will insist on nothing else. You can lose a lot of traffic otherwise to whoever has the .com with your name because so many people will just automatically type in .com.

I also have one exception, the name of my gardening site where I have a .info because it is a brief acronym for the non-profit organization it represents and all the members are used to typing in those four letters. The .com for it was already taken as well.

You're in Thailand? So am I

.com is the best, just go with that because it's the most popular top level domain in the world. Also, when people type in your website they're going to search for the .com version of your website.

.org is OK to, but that's more for organizations hence the ".org"
.net is typically for those who could not get the .com of their chosen name. .Net started originally for websites that were hubs for content, much the way Alltop.com is, but in practice that's not at all how it's used anymore.
.info is used by spammers mostly so it has a poor reputation.

I guess in my opinion it really depends on what you are doing. If people are most likely going to find you through Google organic search results I don't think it would matter which one you choose. On the other hand I think people would be more likely to remember a .com when trying to go back to you. Just alot more competition for .com's.

My suggestion, “.com” is the best. I am talking about SEO perspectives. And Godaddy where I recommended you to buy domain name. It does not matter what type of site you are trying to launch.

I always go for .com if I possible. If using an EMD which mentions location then there is absolutely no doubt I'll take .com.
