Default Confusion about domain add on and subdomain

I am confused about subdomains and add on domains. My web host advertises that it hosts unlimited domains. I have one website hosted, I'll call it ebooks.com. I now wish to put up another, completely unrelated website that I'll call dogs.com and may wish later to put up yet another website that I'll call jetairplanes.com which will be unrelated to the first two websites.
Will the second and third websites be add on domains or subdomains?

Hi jm321.

The extra domains would be Add-On Domains.

The url for subdomains would be subdomain1.domain.com, subdomain2.domain.com, etc.

Before you add add-on domains to your web host, make sure you change the nameservers from the registrar's to your web hosting account. For example, if you bought a domain from godaddy.com, log-in to your godaddy account, modify the nameservers for the domain to that of your web hosting plan.

Sherif's answer is very good, as usual.

In view of your unfamiliarity with the subject, I will just add the point that the choice between the two approaches is basically one of relatedness. Since you say that the new websites would be unrelated you would want to stay with the add on domains. Save the use of sub domains for uses that are tied into the main domain.
