domain reseller now?
Hi all,
I plan to register at least five domain names for my own use in the next six months, plus variations on them (.org, .net). Thus, the total number of names could be as high as 15.
Eventually, one of my sites will target small businesses and offer domain name registrations and web hosting services.
Does it make sense to sign up as a reseller in the beginning and purchase my own domain names at "wholesale", or just wait until the small business site is ready to go on-line about the end of the year)?
Thanks,

there is a really unique script for host reselling at scripts.com, and as far as domain name reselling, there are several different ones at different pricing offering the same reselling services. youcanhost.com is the same set up as godaddy's but at a fraction of the cost. You get the exact same hosting and domain reselling package, signup sheet, pricing, everything.

If you are sure you're going to sell domains, might as well sign up for a reseller now and buy your domains at wholesale. That's what I do.

I promote the site from 2create and Wild West handles all the transactions and customer support. WebsitePalace is just my reseller store they provided when I signed up so I didn't create it. I just set my own prices for all the products and earn commissions on anything purchased from that store.
But as a reseller you sometimes have to deal with customer questions because people often think I'm the one that took the order. There is a good discussion about reselling here...

I'm sorry Lajocar, I misread your question. I thought you said "what do I do for WebsitePalace" instead of "what do I use". It's run through Wild West Domains, which is a GoDaddy company.

Thanks, Lisa
So it is Godday's reseller program. That is what I wanted to know.

I am interested in learning about domain reselling. I have read through the forums here..any other suggestions on how to educate myself?
I am understanding that some websites, such as teaching people about building websites, fall naturally into the line of becoming a domain reseller...does that mean I am out of luck with my camping website?
Should I be thinking of a different sort of website down the line...once I have success and experience with what I am doing now...in order to be able to become a domain reseller?
Right now I don't think offline referrals would be enough for me to move in this direction?
Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions on how to learn more about this are appreciated.

The great thing about websites is almost everyone knows someone who wants one these days. While I think sites geared toward website creation do the best, you can still casually mention to your audience on your About Me page. Say you are giving a brief overview of how much fun you are having building your site and how Google just find you (re: your other thread you just posted). You could casually mention something like "If you want to start your own site go here!" or something like that.
I certainly wouldn't go slapping domain and hosting ads all over a camping site but there are casual ways to get your audience interested.

Lisa, that's a good idea to mention casually on your site products.
I see you promote Sitebuildit on on your flat stomach website

Thanks. I did plan on promoting SBI on my about me page, once I have more content and traffic.
I also thought it might be okay to have an ad on some pages for domain names but I wanted to make sure this wouldn't be totally out of place.

You got it! I track the link that I'm using to promote SBI! on my About Me page and the conversion rate is pretty good. Although I think a big part of that is because people are coming from my 2create site so my audience is much more targeted than the average SBI customer. I just put the banner up on the right nav. Not sure I'll leave that up. That might be too much. We'll see!

Wow that's cool that you have a good conversion rate on your fitness website.
As you mentioned that alot of traffic comes from 2create site. I believe that your fitness site is credible, because:
1. Your site has good page rank
2. Alexa rank is decent
3. Site looks professional
4. Personal (Visitors see you (Lisa) and not just a product or service)
Based on the above metioned and your preselling on 2create website your conversions should be decent.
So your fitness site is an advert of a site buildit site. So the visitor or (potential client / sale) see that site build it works, because your site does so well.
Tremendous strategy
Keep up good work
