.com and .net
I haven't made a website yet, but when I do I plan on registering .com and .net. I was wondering how to get them both to go to the same site once I actually get my website together. An example is when you type in wikipedia.com or wikipedia.org. It will always take you to wikipedia.org.

skatebeat,
there are a few ways to do this, the easiest is probably by setting up a redirect from your web hosting control panel or dashboard.
Have you selected a web host yet? If not yet, make sure that they allow you to host multiple domains (some allow unlimited domains) that way you can host both the .com and the .net domains and have one redirect to the other.
Hope this answers your question.

2nd Option
You can also use the following code in the index of the domain that you want to point to the other:
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0; url="index.php">
Change content="0" to how many seconds you want it to take before it redirects the page request or leave it as 0 to make the redirect immediate.
Change url="index.php" to your own web address, unless you just want to give us some free visitors.

I'm still thinking of a domain name, so I haven't seen the web hosting control panel yet. With the code, do I just leave one of the sites completely blank except for that line of code?

easiest way
Since you are not familiar with this I would just follow the easiest way, which you see above, the redirect that Sherif mentions. With your registration you should have options to park, host, or redirect. You will just click redirect and enter the domain to redirect to. It is extremely easy when you do it. Don't worry.

Yes the site you want to redirect to your main site would just have 1 file in the main directory.
You can make a text file in notepad, name it "index.html" and paste the code into the text file. Save it on the server and your done...I'm pretty sure that it will be easy, but of course you can do what sherif is speaking of and it will work the same...
