Hello myfirstwebsite,

Well sorry to say you this but Godaddy is correct once you purchase a domain you can't change it. What you can do is sell the domain to another person and buy another domain.

Godaddy offers a way to sell a domain called "The Domain Name Aftermarket.com" the problem is you have to become a member and pay $4.99 a year to be able to sell your domain.

Instead you have no options I guess you have to use the domain or register another domain.

Godaddy has a special offer for current members.

Thanks

Default You can still make use of the domain.

Is the domain that you registered a typo of the actual domain name? If so you can get additional traffic by making it redirect to your new domain. You can use the "parked domain" facility in cpanel to do so.

Great advice ncaditya. Unfortunately for me I just thought of a better name but I still may redirect this to my new one. That way it's not a total loss. Thanks again!

I don't know if this helps, but consider keeping both domain names:

a) you can, as was suggested, have traffic re-directed to the main domain

or

b) maybe, if it works out, you can host a blog related to your website on that domain?

Just a thought.

I believe that if the domain is still within the three days of registration and you had it incorrectly because of a typo error, you can actually request to have it cancelled without being charge and acquire the desired domain name.

or..

it depends maybe to the registrar's policy
