Question <b>Not sure what to with this domain!<b>

Hi folks,

Here is my situation, I purchased this domain www.health-care-knowledge.com almost 9 months ago and parked it on Sedo. I really didn't have the understanding to test the domain for profitability or to make it useful. Hindsight, I'm sure there are ways to make money w/o selling it yet though not sure if would sell for a profit...maybe maybe not. Does anyone have any suggestions to make it profitable or to sell if I have no choice?

Thanks,
moimoi94

Perhaps you can start building some pages to the site, health care is a wide topic and there are lots of sub topic you can have for your site, and probably a health care Q&A for people to interact and share experience and tips on personal health care..

Hey Foong,

I don't know one thing about building pages let alone a website. Although, I'm gonna have to do some research to figure it all out. It's quite confusing....

There are some good info Lisa has written in her website on building websites, perhaps you can try that out if you are interested to know more on webmastering.

If that is too heavy for you, perhaps start a forum board (like this) on personal health care, there are ready made forum programs like (vbulletin.com) that you can setup with minimum webmaster skill.

I agree with foong. Why not build up the site? Is this a topic you are interested in or were you just trying to buy up domains? Not sure how easy it will be to sell it for decent money without any traffic.

It would really benefit you to learn the basics of website building. Without that you're at an extreme disadvantage out here. And I promise you it's not hard. Get a program like CoffeeCup or experiment with the free ones like Nvu. I taught myself by playing around and making as many mistakes as possible. LOL And as you've seen from my posts here I am far from a programmer. I've learned enough to get by.

I'd hold off on the forum though until you learn how to build a site and understand how to draw in traffic. Forums are dreadfully difficult to make popular when you haven't gotten the site and marketing part down.

Yes, agree with Lisa, learning and building web page is much easier than building a community (forum) from scratch, unless you already have some friends that you can get in to the forum to get it started initially, otherwise it is rather hard to start with a forum without initial traffic.

maybe, you can use it for some thing funny, like copying some one else, like JohnCow.com copied JohnChow.com. The parody hilarious...

There was no logical use of the JohnCow .com domain, Mr.Cow made it work for him!

Why would I need to build a website if I own the domain? And how does one do that anyways? I just don't get it.

A domain is just a name or an identity, and it can be attached to any service or information. For example, 10 years ago, probably you ca register the domain name youtube.com for less than $10, if the person who owns the domain youtube.com never created a popular video sharing site, probably we will not know there is a domain name (youtube.com) exists and it would still worth $5 to register.

Creating something for the domain adds value to it and people will be attracted to it because it has extra value than just a domain name.

I guess Lisa may have a better approach on how to start building a website from scratch, go through her pdfs and you may have a better understanding on this area.
