Default Name Servers

When registering a domain name with a different company other than your host. Do you choose the option to use their free name servers or do you choose the option to use custom servers?

You are usually given the option to host the domain on custom nameservers. I would definitely check up on that before registering your domain with a particular domain registrar. Otherwise, you would have to buy the hosting plan that the registrar offers. For most, if not all, registrars, I would think they give you the option to host them using custom nameservers.

If you would like to use the nameservers of your hosting company then you will have to choose the custom nameservers. However, if you would like to use the nameservers of your domain registrar then you will have to simply point the A record of your hosting server IP address.

Oh okay, I contacted my host and they told me I had to use custom name servers to link it to my hosting.
