I think I would like to start a site on alternative fashion (you know, articles about what different kinds of alternative fashions are, where to buy, pictures of various outfits, etc.) and I think maybe I should just simply call it alternative-fashion.us, or is that too plain? =/

You can try entering your keyword in the google's adwords keyword tool to check for popularity as well as other related key phrases, perhaps you can get a keyword domain name idea from the list.

A ".com" domain name is preferred over other TLDs.

Hmm...did a bit of check and looks like most of the .com for fashion/clothing related keywords are all taken up...guess you might need to either go for other TLDs or add one more word to the targeted key phrase (i.e. club,blog,site etc.) , or perhaps look for a non-keyword but short and catchy name..

Its very much like SBI apart from it lacks extra tools such as notepad, profitability and a few more that i probably don't know about!
