Default The race for getting out hot content!

The website I run is based mainly around gaming (video games) and I write up strategy guides for popular xbox games that come out from time to time. The problem is weeks prior to a popular games releasing, a big name video game web company already beats one like myself in making a guide first and most likely traffic will go towards them and secondly to me considering they put out there stuff first.

What I ask is is there any solution to this kinda thing? I mean like now, it kinda hurts being in the process of making my own original guide for a particular game when a big name video game site put theirs up weeks ahead.

Hey Eddie,

I know no one has responded to your question, and I want to thank you for your valid and challenging question,

Being someone is in the video game arena in regards to guides and sites, my first question for you is 'what are you doing that is different from the other guys?'

Having quality content is key, and having lots of quality content will keep the readers around.

Hopefully this helped.

I understand what your saying because my niche is in Tennis so a lot of people are just regurgitating news like there is no tomorrow and it is crazy. But i had to realize those people have a brand awareness and people are coming to their site for a reason because it is ingrained in their minds to go there. I just have to make sure when I post things that it adds a fresh and unique spin on what is already out there.

Sooner or later when your start ranking higher more people will come to your site and realize that you are producing the game guides in a timely manner. They will say hey this guy seems to always have the new game guides first, maybe i'll check out what he did for this particular game.

Then overtime you will start building your brand. For instance, if I want a game guide or cheats I no either to go to GameFaqs or Gamespot because because it is ingrained. So, don't worry about your competitors too much they will only discourage and intimidate you whether you know it or not.

Make a better guide. I know a lot of the guides from sites like Gamespot or IGN are decent, but they don't go into great detail.

You CAN go into great detail. You can show pictures, videos (upload them to YouTube!), and personal tips. You can go into advanced strategy. There's a lot you can do, good buddy!

I agree with Jonathan. Hey we make a great team we should go on the road lol.
But yeah i do find that sometimes IGN or other sites are a little lacking and they leave you wanting more or they don't really get in to detail as much as they would like.
