The website I run is based mainly around gaming (video games) and I write up strategy guides for popular xbox games that come out from time to time. The problem is weeks prior to a popular games releasing, a big name video game web company already beats one like myself in make a guide first and most likely traffic will go towards them and secondly to me considering they put out there stuff first.

What I ask is is there any solution to this kinda thing? I mean like now, it kinda hurts being in the process of making my own original guide for a particular game when a big name video game site put theirs up weeks ahead.

That's what you'll run into with any review website (especially for popular products like video games). One way to combat this is to make your review more thorough. For example, use video or provide comparison info that the other sites don't provide. Think outside the box to help your reviews stand out.

I know! People always have that name brand company stuck in their head.

The sad thing is that people do not want to think outside the box. The best way to work around all of this is to provide better content with your own twist. Something that will put in their mind, "I need to see what Eddie B is saying!"

It's like when you want to buy a video game. What place immediately pops in your mind? For me it's Game Stop (haha, I'm not a big gamer). It's our job as internet marketers to work around that barrier which we call Walmart, Game Stop, or any other name brand competitor and provide something new, exciting, and different for the consumer. Let me get off of my nooby soap box and leave you with this... What makes me (the consumer) want your video game strategy guide when I could go to (insert name brand)?
