Default Duplicate Content

Hello,

I have a couple of posts that are in both of my blogs. Should I delete these posts from one of my blogs, so that I dont have duplicate content. The posts from both blogs have already been spidered by Google. How does Google penalize you for a couple of posts of duplicate content. The other 31 posts are all unique content. Thanks for any advice.

It is not recommended to have duplicate content, in your case if you need/want to use a post twice for two different blogs I suggest simply modifying one of the blog posts. You keep the same topic and that just reword a far amount of it.

How Google penalizes you will vary on how they see the situations, if you start getting a lot of duplicate content Google will likely think that one of you is stealing from the other. Usually the one that will get penalized is the one which has it's content crawled last, as to Google usually the first time it see the content it sort of "Notes" that it belongs to that website. The site that Google believes to be duplicating the content is usually penalized and in some cases removed from their index.

However that information i read quite some time ago and Google may have changed how they treat duplicate content but I would say that it is something along those lines.

Thanks so much for the information. I have removed the two posts in question from my newest blog. I will take your advice and leave these posts unpublished from my newest blog until I reword them. The last thing I need is to be penalized by Google for duplicate content. Thanks again.

I would definitely get rid of the duplicate content. It has been proven that having content from other sources online can retard your SERP rankings. It takes time to create original content but the long term traffic that it brings in is worth it

Hello Cyberprofit,

Thanks for the advice. I have completely re-written one of the posts in question and deleted the other post with duplicate content. Many of the articles in my web site I submitted to Ezine Articles, and I think Google is penalizing me f.or duplicate content with my web site. If I submit articles to Ezine Articles in the future I plan on only o submitting unique content - not articles already posted on my web site. Live and learn

I would never post the same article on your wbsite hat you submit to Ezine or other strong article directory sites. What makes you think you are being penalized?

My pagerank is 0. Only average 2 or 3 referrals from Google a day, and my website is over fifty pages long.
