Default Article Keywords: How should I Approach it?

When writing articles is it best to write your articles optimized for the same keyword that you've optimized for on your website/webpage that you're directing visitors to. Or is it best to use totally different keywords so that your article won't compete with your website in the search engines? Hope I'm clear on what I'm trying to say here. Appreciate any quick feedback!

Are you talking about writing articles for directories and not your own site?

You optimize pages specifically for the topic of the page whether it be a web page on your site or an article.

Hope this helps.

Hi Multimastery, I understand from what you said, that these articles are not on your website.

I will just ask you a few questions that will help you answer yourself because you're the only one who knows what you want.

Does your site / web page appear in page one when searching for your keywords?
if not then use the same keywords when tagging your articles.

Will it bother you to have 2 or 3 positions for the same keyword search?
if it does then use differant tags, if it doesn't then use the same tags.

Do you feel that you alredy dominated your web site's keywords and want to appear for new ones?
if so use differant tags for you articles.

If your articles are displayed on your site then definately use the same keywords.

Answers to questions: No, No and No so I guess I'll take your advice Thanks! ( And yes the articles are to submit to directories and other sources linking back to my site.)

Thanks Everyone for replying!
