Default How many pages til I publish the site?

I remember reading on "2create..." to submit your site to google after having 20+ content rich pages. How many pages should I have to actually just publish my site?

Please advise.

Now I will likely get comments on that! O well. I haven't actually put up a one page one yet, but I am about to do so. No doubt I will add more later, but on one page I can lay out all that I really need for what will basically be a business id page with a simple description, picture, address, phone, etc.

The point is that you need to look at what you are doing. There is no answer except that it should look OK to you. Does it look inadequate? If it feels complete, although small, it shouldn't be a problem to put it on line. It can begin to build up a record that way.

I also have a major site that I have up but will not get to where I am ready to move on from basic content until I am well over 100 pages. It just needs that much to cover the subject because it is so broad.

Use your good judgment. It will be all you need to make this decision.

tkdguy, your other post like this got moved to The Content Corner. So I'm going to remove that one and move this post there.

20 pages is not a rule of thumb by any means and I believe I was referring to joining AdSense.... not submitting to Google. Anyway, I was just trying to make the point that your site should look complete and presentable. There's a way to do this even if your site is still under development.

Submit your site to Google even if you don't have more than a one page website. It's important for your site to become a little older in Google's eyes so it doesn't get sandboxed. The time it is sandboxed is a great time to work on building more pages.

Not sure if you're familiar with the term sandbox, but it looks like Google filters new websites from the search results for a few months depending on how competitive the keyword is.

Perhaps I could write a summary of my site on the one page and publish new pages upon creation of other pages.

What do you think?

I don't think a summary is a good idea, maybe stick to the twenty content-rich pages idea =3

I would put what you have and then continue adding t it. The earlier it is up, the earlier your site will begin to get indexed. You don't have to promote right away until you feel there is enough content but at least you will be on your way. Plus, it is motivating to see a site online and "empty"...makes you wanna add stuff regularly to begin fleshing it out. Good luck and all the best.

I dont see why you would want to submit it right away. There is no good points in waiting IMO.

Huh!? Freebird, I think you meant to say "I don't see why you would NOT want to submit right away"? Which qualifies your second sentence. Or am I incorrect...? Juts thought you'd like to know. All the best.

Default Submitting my website to Google

Does anyone have any tips before I submit my website to google? So far I only have 2-3 pages published and growing everyday.

Also, will I have points taken off by Google's "spiders" etc.. for having another page state "Under Construction"?

Hi TK...you don't really need to submit your site manually to Google. I've never once submitted any of my sites to nay search engine and they are on all of them...What IS important is that you a have a site that has a clear theme/niche with at least an index page that represents your site through text and title tags. I''m off to dinner now but I'll try and give a more specific response when I return...and you won't lose "points" if you have a page that is under construction...as long as it not the first page of your site. And don't forget, this all takes time. Google won't crawl your site right away so you have time to flesh it out with content and what not. Hope this helps somewhat. Take care and all the best.

Sorry Dude,

You waited too long.
As of an hour ago Google is no longer taking website submissions.
Sorry, your site will never be indexed.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
Just Do It (can I say that or is it already taken)

Hey Jazz Guy!

Thanks a bunch. Now let's assume that I'm dumb...No, wait... I am dumb. Anyway, what are title tags?...I remember reading about that or "meta tags"? Oh, and as far as taking time I figured it would take at least a few months before my site looks good and from there I will continue to update and add new features. Is that about right? All of you guys have been very honest with me...please don't hold back.

Stay Awesome!

Don't add under construction pages. Instead add a little description of what your website is about, it doesn't have to be a lot, just make it informative.
