A lot of people use Google but I like www.master.com and have been using them long before Google came along.

I think Google is probably easier to setup but I like to fully customize my results page so it looks like it's on my site. Google's search results looks too much like their site. Or maybe the sites I've seen with Google search just haven't customized their results pages. Can you even do that with Google search? Not sure. Maybe someone who uses them can answer.

Here's Google's

I use Google's Custom Search on a number of my sites. I find it very easy to implement.

Lisa, yes you can customise the results (via API). You can have the results either appear on Google's domain or within your site.

If you have an Adsense account you can attach it to the Engine and gain revenue from ads showing in the results.

I use Google Custom Search Engine, you have different options of how you want to implement it in, such as I-Frame, AJAX, and just basic html where you have a separate page for your results.

Its a really simple way of getting search on your site as it index's all your pages automatically without manually putting them in.

I personally using AJAX because it loads a small pop up with the results in and looks very professional a new.

Theres plenty of alternatives though if google is just not your thing.

I checked out master.com and seen a preview of the search box and it has their little logo on the side, but I noticed on lisa's site that she has no body elses logo next to her search no advertising, how do sites do that. I don't wanna use google.

They probably just put that in the preview. The only time you have to use their logo is on the search results page. I've never had a master logo on my search box. If you just copy and paste the code they provide you'll have a simple search box like the one I have on 2createawebsite.com and flat-stomach-exercises.com.
