Default Trademark Symbols

Most of the experts on here no doubt know this little tidbit, but I recently came across the information while writing content.

How to install trademark symbols while writing content.

1. You can insert the Copyright and Registered trademarks from the Special Character tool on your word processor. Mine is under Insert/Special Characters.

2. I couldn't find how to insert the Trademark symbol however and came across a few keys to insert the symbols:

TM-Alt-0153
C-Alt-0169
R-Alt-0174

Having these symbols on your site will help remind honest folks to stay honest. However, it will not keep some jerk from asshattistan from stealing your ideas...

Cheers,
Ron

Default use code

In your html code, though, you should not just type the symbol. Just as with an apostrophe or quote marks you need to use html code. Otherwise they may not appear as intended depending on the browser and fonts supported, etc.

& #169; is the html code for copyright [leave out the space]

& #174; for a registered tradmark [leave out the space]

I learned to use HTML codes after putting quotes in code on my posts and people started talking about how the quotes became messed up when they copied and pasted the code.

For symbols, however, I always lookup the code. It is easy to do so it doesn't take much time.

Default Symbols

After I posted this, I did look up another site, and also found the html equivalents..Thank you James.

As for other commenter's, using these marks on my site, isn't to cover my arse, but is for copyright and trademark names of companies products that are listed on my site...For instance Product A (R) manufactured by Company A (C)
