Angry Speaking of plagiarism...

Today I learned that someone has stolen every one of my posts, and a few posts from other blogs to make their own website .

I read both Blogger's policy on plagiarism and "What to do if your content is copied" in the SBI! tips. I then visited Whois to get the site owner's email address, and sent him a very courteous message asking him to remove the posts ASAP or further action will be taken.

But then I was thinking...One of the posts that he used has a link to my SBI website, and he did not remove the link before posting it on his site. I'm thinking he didn't realize that my link was there because in all my other posts that include a link to my site, he deleted it. As a result of my link being in his site, he's given me an inbound to my site. If he doesn't respond to my email, should I just disregard his actions and go on with my business, or should I pursue this until I get results?

I used sitereportcard.com to check the stats on this site: It has not data in alexa, and basically does not exist (in terms of traffic) on Google, Yahoo or MSN.

this is bad..

There are some MFD (Made for Digg) sites out there too which will take an excerpt from your blog's post(which is on digg) and will add a link to the original digg submission. I think that's a form a plagiarism too

I would thing that the link would not be of enough value to justify allowing him to keep your content. People like that are a blight on the internet. You must have been so angry to find your content stolen like that.

I would pursue the matter until the content is removed. Next step would be notifying their host of the stolen content.

Ugh, I hate it when that happens. I agree and would try to contact the host. Although, I've never had luck with contacting thieves or their Web hosts. It angers me that people are so lazy and unethical.

I was reading someone's blog once (can't remember who) and they wrote an entire post about the thief. It was very clever how they documented what they stole, etc. I guess the only problem with writing them up on your site is that you are linking to the page with the duplicate content and that can hurt you.

Anyway, hopefully you get that matter resolved.

Plagerism is something I worry about constantly, especially since one of my sites is dedicated to my fiction work. This really bothers me, too! -gonks-

There are many times when I search for a topic and visit several Web sites about that topic, and all sites contain the same content. I have even seen duplicate content from forums.

I think about what would happen if someone copies my content. I'm not sure what I would do, if it ever happened.

You can use http://creativecommons.org/ to protect your work, I've been looking at when i was viewing TechieGuy website and its such a great idea so thanks man.

Someone once copied one of my templates and I still had all the images hosted on my account so i was able to track him down. I found him threatened to take him to court and sue a lawsuit against him, when I wasn't at all, and he removed it promptly. This is what worked for me a little unofficial digging but I'm not saying its a guarantee!

Stealing of ideas and creativity is the worst thing in the world according to me. Due to the people who steal creativity, some good content creators are moving away from internet and if this continues, one fine day people won't be able to find good literature online.

I wonder if you can just put the URL as text instead of a hyperlink if that would affect you. All a visitor would need to do is copy the text and paste it in their browser. That way you can show the problem site without actually linking to it.
