Default Can I put an article I submit on my site?

If I were to write an article on something that had to do with my website, and then on the page on my site that covers that topic can I put my article there? Or will search engines call it duplicate content?

You would likely be penalized for duplicate content for whatever website was spidered first with your article by the search engine. Many of my articles that I have submitted to Ezine Articles as well as my web site have been penalized by Google. The articles on the Ezine Article site shows up in the SERPs, but many of the articles don't show up in the SERP for my website.

If you want to submit articles to another website, such as Ezine Articles, I would suggest modifying the article first. That is what I plan on doing in the future if I submit any articles to Ezine Articles or anywhere else. Best of luck.

Hi SHFarms,

As well as agreeing with the points brought up by Chrisinbc, I'd like to add that I've read it is a good idea to publish to your own site first so the initial indexing by search engines find it there. Then, if you want to submit the article, do so with a re-written copy. The re-write does not have to be major...but in truth, I've found that with my re-writes, the article usually improves!

Good luck with your writing!

Until next time...

Annie

Good points SHFarms. That is a very good idea to publish the article first on your own site. Then, a re-written second article to the other web site. I too have found that with re-writes the article usually improves. I can speak with a voice of experience on this as I'm in the process of rewriting many of the articles on my website right now.
