Default Finally Signed up for Entrecard Today

Several people have asked me here and on my blog why haven't I signed up for Entrecard. I don't have a real good answer for that. I guess it just wasn't on my list of priorities. Nevertheless, I finally took some time to create my card and signed up today.

I have to say, I didn't realize it was as involved as it is and you can do so many things with credits, etc. I'm off to Starbucks now and plan on reading the 20-page guide they give you when you sign up just to get some ideas, etc. Pretty cool stuff.

Anyone care to share their experience? I know TechieGuy uses it 'cause I saw his card on ProBlogger once . TG, if you are reading this, do you still endorse it? Just wondering if you still like the program?

Anyone else use it?

I still use it on a regular basis. I posted some stats on my first year traffic, and Entrecard came in second to Google.

There has been some negative talk recently in the forums about a situation that has happened, but it looks like things will be changing to avoid a similar issue in the future.

Graham Langdon, the founder of Entrecard, has stated he has some very big news coming up so I'm waiting to see what happens there.

I will continue to use Entrecard since I probably owe a lot to it with regards to subscriptions and visitors. Just like any other social/networking system: you get out what you put in.

PS: I'll buy an ad on your blog. You get 25% of the credits from each ad purchased. The other 75% disappears to keep inflation in check.

Cool, thanks TG! I'll do the same on yours as soon as I earn enough credits to afford a spot on the more established EC members blogs.

Just like any other network, I'm seeing a lot of junk. So far I've rejected 5 spammy-looking blogs that applied for a spot on my blog. I suppose when my blog gains more EntreCard credibility and status (and my EC price increases), that will eliminate some of these bloggers looking for cheap places to advertise.

I just approved you and you're live!

The EC price is based on the number of people who are queued to advertise on your widget.

When no ad is queued, the price is 2. After someone purchases an ad the price goes to 4, and then 8. Each time someone purchases an ad the price doubles. Once an ad is finished advertising (24 hours), the price is halved.

Since your blog receives quite a bit of traffic, you will soon see your price jump very quickly.

There are a lot of spammy blogs on Entrecard, which is something people complain about. There are many ideas on how to get rid of them, but a solution is still in the works. Getting rid of the splogs is something that should be happening soon...hopefully.

Oh OK, I was wondering how that works. I've been fumbling through the dashboard, reading up on things and couldn't figure out how that worked. Cool.

Yes, some quality control would be nice. I have YET to see a blog with a PR of anything. In any event, this is kinda fun. I think I'm already addicted. LOL I'm a stat junky and with EC's extensive reporting I can see I will be watching this closely.

Thanks KRH, I must admit I haven't been giving EC the attention I would like to. The biggest problem I'm having is many non related blogs applying to advertise on my site so it's keeping my price low for now. Just like anything else there's a lot of junk out there but I can see the potential if I take the time to actually work the system.

I usually accept all advertising that apply on my site. I only reject those that have a racey image as their card.

Lisa: Let me know how your card does on my blog. I'm curious to see how many clicks you get. Someone received 110 clicks from my blog a few weeks ago.

Default I have it too

I have Entrecard on my telllikeitis blog and it's cool. I have received a LOT of requests from folks that have, let's just say, 'questionable' content and I've rejected many. I did have an issue where one did pop up on my blog. I had to quickly reject/delete it so that my own card would show up.

I do like it though - just be prepared for some 'undesirable' Entrecard requests to be shown on your blog.

Hope everyone is doing well - been gone for a minute-

110 Clicks! Wow that's gotta be good for your stats and repeat advertisers. So far I'm not getting many clicks back to my blog and neither are my advertisers. So I'm experimenting with different ECs. My 2nd one has performed a bit better so we'll see. I'll keep you posted TG.

Interesting that you accept almost all advertisers. I wonder if I should not be so picky in the beginning just to test things out.

I used to be picky as well with regards to which ads I displayed on my site.

I eventually just started accepting ads that were graphically appropriate, which are most ads on Entrecard.

I have also been rejected many times in the past, but I don't take it personally. When I buy ads I usually buy them in bulk, which means over 100 at a time.

That reminds me, I'll have to buy an ad on your blog again.

rejecting too many advertising can make bad impression to entreacard community. lisa..i think u can use recommendation...how u will accept ad. this will also help others while they want to purchase ad from u.

u have to give more time to increase ur entrecard creadit. as ur blog is well establish and full of rich content..if u give more time..then u can overcome the rejection prob which is bothering u now.

Thanks KRH

I can see the potential in this..... especially when you find a few sites where your own EC converts pretty well so I'm hanging in there. Like I said I just haven't invested the time.

Oh and one more thing. This has been driving me nuts and it may be kinda silly but why in the world couldn't they center the "Drop" text on the widget I'm using???? Sometimes it's the little things that make me nutty. LOL
