Word Press Install Issues

I'm attempting to install wordpress and I think I may have skipped a step or am confused...

1. I am using hostgator to host my site
2. I downloaded the zip file from wordpress
3. Built a SQL database in my Cpanel X @ hostgator
4. Updated a wp-config.php file for my wordpress install
5. Transfered files via SmartFTP to a folder I built thru File Manager on Cpanel
6. Attempted to find file www."mydomain"/blog/wp-admin/install.php
7. I recieve back a "Page Not Found" 404

Suggestions? Is there any easier way that I missed somewhere?

Hi cdalelife,

You may have not realized this but if your host has cpanel then you don't need to manually download, configure and upload the wordpress files. It does all that for you. If I were you I'd delete everything off your server and start over.

Just login to the hostgator control panel and click "Fantastico De luxe". This will walk you through the entire process and even create your database. The only thing you have to do is create your username and password for the WordPress admin panel.

That was exactly the response I was looking for. I totally missed somewhere this Fantastico De Luxe... I will take a shot at this then.
