Question How to use Wordpress!

Ok! Ok! You guys have convinced me that I must start a blog to get traffic! My question is, should I get started right away by downloading WordPress and hosting it on my webhost or let WordPress host my blog for a while until I develop traffic.

Thanks guys for your response!

Have a great day everyone

It is entirely up to you which route you wish to take.

If it was me I will register a domain and install Wordpress via (cPanel) or FTP on a website hosting server.

Most of the top bloggers eg. John Chow, Shoemoney etc. recommend to have a wordpress blog standalone on own server or hosting comapny server with own domain name.

From there you can work on getting traffic to your site. If you have other websites then you can link to your Wordpress blog.

You can also participate in various related niche forums and get some traffic to your blog.

Hope this helped

I agree with Lajocar. Even if you aren't going to blog much in the beginning, might as well set it up for the long-run. Plus if you host your blog on WordPress' servers you can't use AdSense because they don't support Javascript. If you do decide to do what Lajocar said, use www.hostgator.com (if your host doesn't use cpanel). They have cpanel, awesome support and setting up your blog is quick and easy.

So if you have cPanel then it is just a matter of clicking install and there you go.

I am not convinced of this statement. I started reading the instructions from Word Press on how to install their blog and you have to be able to understand a lot of webmaster language. I started reading the so called guide lines for, “installing a blog in minutes,” and 45 minutes later I was still on like step three of twenty and that was only the first page of instructions. I got frustrated and decided I am going to need to get a real computer tech to help me on this one.

Really? Even with cpanel it wasn't quick? All you have to do is say "install wordpress". Now of course changing the blog template files takes a little bit of work but the initial setup usually just requires a few clicks if you're using cpanel.

Now if you are FTP-ing Wordpress and setting up a database and aren't familiar with that then yes, it can get tricky the first time.

I agree with Lisa,

It will take a couple of minutes to setup Wordpress if you use cPanel.
You just have to click a couple of buttons.

There are more technical stuff involved if you really play around with Wordpress.

What is c-panel? I am kinda new to this "Webmaster Babble" that's one of the points I am trying to make. I don't recall Word Press suggesting c-panel.
