Default WordPress + AdSense = Possible?

Hi,

I read that if you host your blog on wordpress's servers, then you can't use google ads (adsense) in the blog.
So, if the blog is hosted using a web host, then is it possible to use adsense in the blog?

Lisa, if you don't mind, i was wondering why you don't use adsense in your blog? I know many webmasters say that google ads make your blog/site look unprofessional. Is that your reason too or is it because of something else?

Yes, if you host a Wordpress blog on your own, you can add Adsense.

There are several reasons I've chosen not to use AdSense right now. I'm actually running a little experiment.

I used to have AdSense ads on my blog when I first launched the WordPress version in December, but because of my template design the only place they would fit is in the bottom of the right nav and the click thru was very low. I figured I could use that space for other monetization and promote my RSS feed.

There were plugins that would allow me to place the ads inside the body of my posts, but for some reason I didn't like the way it looked so I removed them.

Also, AdSense click thru rates on sites related to Webmasters are pretty low (compared to others) and have gotten lower over time. I think it's mainly because most Webmasters are aware of AdSense so they ignore them. That's why I don't use AdSense here on Website Babble. It's amazing when I look at the AdSense click-thru ratio on 2create compared to my fitness site. Wow! Not even close.

Also my blog traffic is not NEAR what my 2create site is so it's not like I'm missing out on much revenue by not having AdSense on my blog. And as I said, I'm running a little experiment to test some things.

Good tips Lisa,

There are lots of Adsense plugins available.
Check out the Adsense plugins here:
