Thumbs up Neat Free Podcasting Resource

Hi everyone,

I just joined to day but I am finding this forum extreamly helpful. I figured I would try to pay it forward by sharing something I just came across last week.

I have been trying to think of ways to make my site more "sticky." I decided that a daily podcast/blog would be the way to go. I was looking for something that would allow me to just call in and post and give me an mp3 out put.

I went through the Goldilocks syndrone (too big, too small)

Finaly I found just right in utterz.com. It is a free service that lets you call in and post anything from a few seconds to 30 minutes! It will then post your "utter" to your blog or you can use a widget that makes a "podroll" sort of thing.

I just finished my fifth podcast.

If any of you are looking for a simple way to get your voice out there. This is the way to go.

Hope that was helpful,

Amy

P.S. I am in noway affiliated with them. Just an extreamly happy user

Hey all,

I am glad that that could be helpful. One other source that I looked into is blogtalkradio.com They offer similar services but they give you the opportunity to host a "talk show" so you can have guest and up to 5 callers on the line. They have a lot of nice features. They also do revenue sharing for advertising. 35% if you run their advertising 50% if you bring the advertisers to them.

The only reason that I didn't go with them is the fact that you have to be at your computer to really utilize the service. My podcast are only going to be 20-30 minutes max. Utterz is perfect for that I call in they post. No computer needed.

But that is another free great service. They have a nice community aspect and it seems easy for your show to become popular and rank for search terms if you can generate a following.

Just another nugget,

Amy

Amy,

That utterz.com link was very interesting. I had to view a smaple of it from your site and I think for my ongoing project, that would be perfect for me. By the way, I took a tour of your website and my first thought was "WOW, THIS GIRLS GOT HER STUFF TOGETHER." You have an abundant amount of information on your niche and I just want to say "hat's off to you" and I hope all of your hardwork brings in much success for you.

Now as far as utterz, i'm debating on whether to go that route or just do what Lisa did and record videos and place them on youtube. I know that she said videos can surely build your creditability, but can we say the same for podcasts? I don't know, i've never done it before. However, the podcast method just seems more flexible because you can just talk without being visually seen giving you more flexibility and comfortability.

I would love to get opinions on podcasts vs. videos from everyone.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for checking out my site. You know I would have to say (and this is coming from one newbie to another) I would do video. YouTube is powerful. Social media in general is powerful.

I have no doubts that if I were to post videos that my traffic would double if not triple but I made a deal with my husband not to put my face all over the web and I intend to keep it.

But I do believe that anything that lets people know that there is a real person behind the site helps.

Ask me in a month or two and I will let you know if the podcasting has been a success.

All the best,

Amy

Amy, have you considered asking a friend or family member to let you do the styles on them for You Tube videos or photos for your website. You could even try contacting a local natural hair stylist to see if you can purchase photos or make arrangements to take photos of clients.

Visitors to a site which features natural hair styles will want to see photos of the styles or detailed drawings at the very least. It is a visual topic. You obviously have to respect your husband's wishes, but maybe you could find other ways to add photos to your site.
