hey - i made my worpres private a few weeks ago cos im building it

now doing cross browser checks i need to make it veiwable by all

i changed teh settings is privacy to searchable by search enghines but its still has a login can you tell me is there is another setting ?

Did you add a plugin to make it private? If so, remove it.
Did you leave your posts in draft status? If so, publish them.
Did you use password protect? If so, disable it.

ps do you know how to chekc the wp email --- the default worpress email or is this with the host ? tx

i have 45 active plugins some are backend though does tghis matter seeems to load ok ?

That's a lot of plugins. I think I only use 6 or 7. What are those plug-ins doing?

Ok about the password protect feature. In the admin area, if you go to Posts on the left side, your list of posts will come up. Open one of them. Look to your right where it says Public under Publish. You'll see options for making the page public/private or password protected. You can either enable or disable the feature. See below.

Visibility: Public Edit Public
Stick this post to the front page
Password protected
Password:
Private
Ok Cancel

I set up my email through my host.

so ill find my site emails through my c panel i suppose

here is a list of the plugins i have --- when i started using wp i was like a kid in a candy store and just got loads of plug ins i didn't think it affected load time but if they are back end i think it ll be ok


btw Lisa your attachments upload on the forum isn't working thought i'd let you know i reduced the file size to 3 kb and its still over

That has been a problem for a while now and I'm not sure what's going on. I've checked permissions and file size attachment limits for all member groups and cannot figure out why there are issues. I'll check again.

I think I just figured it out. There is another section just for "Attachments" that overrides the forum permissions. They were set incredibly low. I've adjusted. Let me know if that fixes the issue.
