WordPress 2.8.3 Security Upgrade
It hasn't been fully pushed out to all sites for the one-click upgrade via the dashboard, but it can be downloaded here:
http://wordpress.org/development/200...urity-release/
I'll wait until it appears in Dashboard.

I do! But I always try out each upgrade on my test blog first.

Yeah, I need to try out the updates first, because 2.8.1 (or was it .2), gave me the blues. Hours and hours of undoing and redoing.
I'm not rushing to update this time. I want to wait to see what the fallout might be. Or do I need to be concerned about the reason for the update??

Thanks for the heads up. I just upgraded. I also love the new single-click upgrade. Makes life so much easier. As James hinted, always try the upgrade on a test blog first.

No, I don't have one set up. I've got xamp (is that how it's spelled?). So I guess I would download wordpress + my theme, load the same widgets and plug-ins, right? I used xamp when I was practicing on Joomla.

I just installed WP (via my web host CP) in a subfolder (testblog.windowstalk.org), uploaded my theme and a few posts. I don't have all the same widgets installed, just one or two that I may want to test before using them on my live blog.

Ok, I did it, and all is well. All I did, basically, was backup my database, at my admin and at my host, deactivate my plugins, then hit the upgrade button on my two sites, and then reactivated my plugins.

Guess what happened today? I was trying to get a new theme into wamp and did something strange to the password for the new database. Wamp locked me out. So I'm going to have to download a fresh copy.
