Unless you add specific code to the theme template you will never have pages where you want them to be...the theme you are using is just not designed that way.

Think about how your site is going to evolve as that is a very important part of creating the navigation menu - you have to allow enough space in the menu area for all of the pages you are likely to create. Your current nav menu would probably provide enough space for about 10 pages.

One way 'round the method you are trying to use is to create a page for each category and then use that page for links from that page to specific articles which relate to that category. WordPress is not designed for people to easily work with pages as it is a blogging platform, so you would need to be able to add plugins and understand the WordPress code.

I have just done something very similar on one of my sites and it was pretty difficult to get my head 'round the process - especially when it came to automatically updating the pages etc when a new post/article/page was published. I did it in the end but I needed a few plugins and a good bit of knowledge of the WordPress codex to get there.

I do have good idea set for how my site will evolve, and feel that best way for people to view my posts that are even dated way back is to display the image of paintings as thumbnails. Because if its in the blog post format ,people just see the latest post then have to go all the way back to see the rest.

I want a page that will have small thumbnail images of all the paintings ,then people can click on the image they like and the posts about that image will show up. and i want this page to be up on the menu bar. There wouldnt be more than 10 of these pages for sure. will just be several, one on figure/portrait, one on still life, one on landscape, and about page, and i think that would be pretty much it

but iill look into your suggestions as well. thank you very much
