What Blog Resourrce Should I use
Okay, I finally launched my blog this week. But I have a question. Currently I'm on Godaddy.com's Shared Hosting Plan, which means that I can use a variety of tools that comes with the plan from Blog Tools, Forum Tools, .NET Nuke, Gallery Tools etc. One of the Blogging Tools I signed up with was WordPress, which I've come to like over the past week. I can customize my Blog to look exatcly like my own website(in process), or as many of you know, I can simply pick a theme and go with it. This is all great. However, now my concern will be marketing my blog and getting more traffic. I mostly blog about anything Adobe or CSS related. My question is should I be using WordPress, or some other Blog Tool that you guys use, that automatically drive Traffic. I saw something where Lisa had said to be sure that it's indexed on Google or something like that. What should I do next, now that my blog is up and running? Use a New Blog Tool? Stick with what I've got and Market it using some resources you guys provide? What?

Hey Jimmy,
I also use wordpress. It is the best blogging platform in my eyes. It is so easy to get indexed with google. I have opened a sporting fan website with a blog. The blog is doing better in the google index then the main site. lol
Best ways to get traffic is technorati.com, mybloglog.com and not forgetting the old proven way... comment on related blogs. They will provide link backs. Then also get talking to people who have related blogs and get yourself on there blog roll also add them to yours.
Google Blogs have a ping service, wordpress will contact google blogs when you make a new post. And update the index. Sometimes it can appear within minutes. Technorati also have a ping service and with in minutes your new posts can be put out on the net for xxx,xxx people who are interested in the topic. I just looked at my stats for my personal blog and I get 76.89% from google and 14.29% from referring sites. And I didnt do much SEO. I ping Google Blogs and Technorati.
So if I was you I would stick with wordpress, check out http://www.irelandseomarketing.com/s...earch-engines/ for tips on extra wordpress optimising tips. Then in wordpress under OPTIONS > WRITING down the bottom you will find update services put in http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping and http://blogsearch.google.com/ping/RPC2 both on new lines.
Then hopefully you will start getting hits I will add it to my blogroll. My site is a web development blog.

Hey Thanks, this is useful. I was getting worried that I was going to have to change up after about 6 posts this morning lol. I'll do all of this that you say this week and really get it going. Does wordpress come with a stat tracker? I know I have it as part of my Godaddy package. Now how can I earn revenue from my blog? Anything there?

Hi Jimmy,
Signup for Google Analytics for your stats, its free. For money making I would start with Google Adsense.

Thanks Guys, I just signed up for the Analytics and it says that I need to post some similar code to every page that I want to track:
<script src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" type="text/javascript">
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
_uacct = "UA-xxxxxxx-1";
urchinTracker();
</script>
Do I have to do this everytime I post a blog? Or can I add it to one file in word press?

Hey Jimmy
I've never used WordPress but I'm sure there is way to paste it into one file so you don't have to add it to every post. Maybe some other WordPress users here can help.

Open your wordpress theme folder, look for footer.php and open in dreamweaver or notepad. Then past the code into it. Save and upload!

On your wordpress theme look for the footer.php file. You can place it into that and upload it to the correct directory.
