In my opinion you should have a domain and good website and if you want to promote that website you should blog so that you will get good backlinks.

My two cents.

You don't need a web site to blog. I currently only have a blog and no web site.

Many people start web sites and then create a blog as an extension of the web site. I do suggest that you get a domain name even with a Blogger account.

What have you decided to do?

I also have a website, and now blog on it. Has been through so many changes. Used to be a forum at one point.

Default Blog and/or Website...

I had a website for years, then shut it down, then had a blog for six years, then shut it down...To have both, would be ideal, as you could link back and forth...But since your new to the game, why don't you start with a blog and learn the ropes...

Blogs are failry easy to set up, you meet all sorts of great and interesting people, and if you need a hand, they will bend over backwards to help you.

A blog will also help you to write content. Start an article on Word or other software, refine, it, edit it, then post your article. Put it out for the world to see, and see what comments you receive.

You also can learn some html, how to deisgn and/or use templates and a host of all other sorts of things...I think a blog is an excellent tool, for those new to this medium and great for experimentation.

If you decide to go that way, please post a link so we can take a look see

Good Luck
