Default Pages/Visit

I'm just curious about the pages/visit with blogs. I have read that most blogs only get around 1.4 - 2 pages/visit because most visitors usually read only one post.

I get around 1.6 pages/visit which I'm guessing is about average for a blog.

My average is 2.91, but I'm sure my own visits are causing that to be much higher than it should be. I am always editing old posts and moving things around. I don't get many visitors yet so my own visits weigh heavily in the statistics.

I filter out my IP address so I don't include my visits in the stats. Over the last month I averaged roughly 55 visitors and an average page/visit of 1.58. I'm hoping a few changes to my blog will increase that a bit.

If I can get around 1.7 I'll be happy. I'm also hoping to increase my visitor count as well.

I average between the 1.5 and 2 page views (150 visits per day) but then again I don't put much focus on promoting it. I consider any traffic to my blog a bonus since I don't do much with it.

Your 150 visitors is better than my 55. That average is slowly going up as I add more posts to my blog. I have added related posts links at the end of every post so I'm hoping that will increase my pages/visit.

My average is approaching 1.7 since I included the related posts link so I think it may work for me.

I am averaging 20 visitors a day and 2.10 pages/visits. I also have my IP filtered out.

This is on my blog which is only 28 days old with 13 posts. I am slowly working at building the traffic. This last week has been very good.

My main site is pretty static and only needs minimal updates. Most traffic is coming from google and yahoo answers. averaging 20-30 visitors per day. 3.40 pages/visits.

I really want to concentrate on building the blog, that is the area with the most growth potential. I have about 12-15 RSS subscribers (fluctuates) and adding more everyday.

The 2.10 pages/visit is good for a blog. I think the average consensus in the blog world is about 1.7.

You Web site will probably get more pages/visit than your blog.

My blog isn't that old, so I'm seeing traffic fluctuate greatly with Google at the moment. I'm hoping that as my site ages the traffic in Google won't fluctuate as rapidly.

Howdy folks,

How can I filter out my IP address so that I don't add to the visit count on my blog?

Install the WordPress Stats plugin. If you stay logged in to WordPress while visiting your blog, your visits won't count.

Send a message via Yahoo to Geekdout
Default Block your own ip

With the wordpress stats plugin just go to where your plugin is installed which should be in /plugins....and edit banips.dat and put your own ip address in there. it will ban your Ip so that it will never show up on any of your stats.

Wow thanks guys

I already had Statpress plugin installed (I guess it should be the same with what you had in mind!!!).

I've added my IP address at the banips.dat. Will see how it goes.

Was wondering, do I need to do the same for my website? Hostgator gives me the stats for visits and I was wondering if my visits are also counted.

Thanks again.
