Which comes first, Blog or WP Setup?

I am starting up a new website. I have the domain. I wanted to start a Wordpress blog and host it on that site. In my haste/excited to get a jump on my Blog, I started up my blog. Then I realized today, I haven't set up Wordpress on my site yet, will I be able to move the blog that I've created to my site after I set up Wordpress there? Or do I have to create it all over again, after I set up Wordpress?

How have you started up your blog? Wordpress is a blog's CMS, and you would need a CMS in place first before you start a blog.

I fyou have started your blog on another blog CMS, such as Blogger, then it is easy to move your blog to Wordpress. Wordpress allows you to import your blog from various platforms, so you should have no trouble installing, setting up and importing your blog to Wordpress.

Sorry, perhaps I didn't ask that correctly. I want to have a blog hosted on my site. So I jumped on over to wordpress and found the name I wanted and started up a blog on wordpress, hosted by wordpress. But I want to host that blog, with my site. And so I have to setup Wordpress on my site, right? I see in my applications listed when I go into my site, wordpress, so I assume I have to do something to 'set it up'. I'm just not sure, was I supposed to setup wordress on my site and then start a blog, or can I setup wordpress and then bring over the blog, currently hosted by wordpress, to be hosted by me.

Hmm...sorry...I think I just said the same thing. It sounds clear in my head.

You can install WordPress on you host and then easily import your current WordPress blog into your hosted blog once it is setup.

There is an Import feature in WordPress that allows you to do it, and it is very easy to use.

Great...thanks...that is exactly what I was asking. I thought perhaps I had jumped the gun.

Appreciate it, I can now continue to work on the Blog I'm developing while I wait for my sister/tech support to get Wordpress working on my site.

Yup, found where you can import/export on Wordpress and have saved my blog so that I can export it to my site. Thanks. Now to get wordpress setup on my site.

Okay, so I started a wordpress blog a couple weeks ago. But I wanted to have a wordpress blog with my website. So I put Wpress on my website, and saved my blog and uploaded it there and am currently playing with new templates. So my blog is now running on my site, hosted in the same place.

But when I type in the old blog address on wordpress, that old blog is still there with all the content. So I delete this old one? Basically I just copied the info there right? I don't need the blog on wordpress, I've recreated it on my site?!

Do I have that right?

If you've copied everything over to your new address then you don't need the old one. You certainly don't want duplicate content out there. Although if you had traffic to that old blog then you may want to setup a redirect to your new address. Although I'm not sure how to set this up with a blog hosted on WordPress' servers. I'm sure there's info out here on how to do that though.

Yup, I'm very new to doing this, and the prompts were all basically there, just had to follow them (whether on wordpress or on my own site's applications). The biggest difference is that when you put the wordpress blog on your site, you lose all the 'user friendly' updating ability and instead, have to go into your blogs template or files, just like you would your own website, to make changes. Which I thought would be very hard at first, but since I've been learning to upload content to my site....it really just takes a bit of 'playing' looking for files, recognizing names, replacing text here and there...and always...save a file on the desktop before you make changes no matter how small, so that if you make a mistake, you can just upload the original file and get back to where you were.
